Ray was married to PDG Sue Still and brother of Lion Jerry Still and brother-in-law of Lion Barbara Saalman. For many years Lion Ray suffered with diabetes that became progressively worse until it took his life on June 15, 2008 while in his own bed at home with his caring wife, Sue, by his side. Ray lived and breathed Lionism. Ever since he was a little boy he was involved with the Lions. His dad, Arvie Ray Still, was a Lion and so it was in Ray's blood and it became an extension of his family. It didn't matter to Ray how sick he was, giving service to others always came first with him even from his hospital bed at times. Ray always tried to help new Lions feel welcome and answered any questions they may have had about the Lions organization. In fact, he would go out of his way to explain things to a new Lion about what was going on at a meeting or an event just so they would feel at home and comfortable in their new, unfamiliar surroundings. He also gave words of encouragement to everyone by telling them they were doing a great job, etc. He remained always available to all Lions if they needed any kind of help or needed more information about the organization. He was a Lion
through the heart and all of us miss him very, very much!
Our most heart-felt sympathies go out to Ray's family and friends. |
