| Dear President
Lion Randy,
I'd like to thank you and
your fellow Lions of Citrus Heights for the invitation to dinner last night.
It was an honor to share the information about the Senior Connection with
your organization.
I was very moved by the presentation
of the electric wheelchair to your visiting guest. That was a wonderful
moment.
As promised, I've mailed
a copy of our caregiver's resource guide for your clubhouse. I hope
it will be helpful to your members. Thank you again for such an enjoyable
evening.
You Lions are very special
people!

Due to the length of the
letter from the principal of Sylvan Middle School I have taken only the
basics of the letter to print here.
Dear Citrus Heights Lions
Club,
I wanted to follow up with
you on the success we had with your Lions Education Foundation Grant
to Sylvan Middle School this year. As you know, this year we spent
a great deal of energy, time and money encouraging our students to read
and I'm proud to say that the results were impressive.
I am committed to improving
our site and the quality of students and Citrus Heights citizens we produce
and I am so thankful that your club has been a contributor to our success.
As you prepare your nominations for the 2007-2008 Lions Education Foundation
Grants, I would very much appreciate you considering my school again.
We have decided to continue with our focus on reading this year.
We are convinced that as we continue to update our library collection and
incentivize kids to read, the short-term results at our school and the
long-term results for society are very positive. If you have any
questions, or would like me to come speak to your members, please let me
know.
Sincerely,
Jim Shoemake

Thank you for your efforts
on my behalf and also behalf of other visually impaired who have been assisted
by
the Citrus Heights Lions Club! With the first surgery, in July, I
was able to see well enough to read the many books which I've saved during
the years which I've been unable to read them. With the second surgery,
done this September, I was able to use both eyes to see almost everything.
I have also begun to look
for work and have informed Social Security of my now being sighted.
I believe that I will again be able to drive. I still have an inability
to read with both eyes simultaneously. I never-the-less consider
myself very fortunate to have both eyes corrected to near normal vision
by Dr. Jones, thanks to the generosity of the Citrus Heights Lions Club.
Best Regards,
David La Riviere
A
woman by the name of Betty Christman came to the Citrus Heights Lions requesting
glasses to help people in Thailand. Betty along with a group of others
were trying to collect eyeglasses when she was introduced to the Lions.
Betty does missionary work to help orphaned kids and others who are very
poor. The Citrus Heights Lions Club Vision Chair directed her to Lion Bob
Schmitz who heads the Folsom Project for the Visually Impaired. The
glasses that are handled at Folsom Prison are cleaned and tagged with the
prescription number for each lense. Bob was kind enough to give Betty
2,000 pairs of glasses to take to Thailand. This is what Betty wrote
to the club.
From Betty Christman
Dear Citrus Heights Lions,
We can't thank you enough
for introducing us to Bob Schmitz and the eyeglass program at the prison.
If we do not take the glasses we get in, besides the 2,000 we will be taking
to Thailand, we'll see that your Lions Club gets them and then you could
give them to the prison for processing.
Many people in Thailand will
be helped because of your concern.
The Lord Bless you,
Betty Christman

Children, Inc.
Dear Lion President,
The members of the Board
of Directors, District Chairs, and Wilderness Camp Staff would like to
extend to you, our warmest wishes and deep appreciation for your generous
contribution.
You have made it possible
for Wilderness Camp for Deaf Children Inc. to provide a camping experience
to underprivileged, deaf children.
There are few experiences
in the world that equal the joy in the faces of deaf children when they
get off the bus and look around the camp. Volunteer Lions that come
to help out at camp become caught up in the excitement of the children
as they watch them sign to each other, some at rocket speed. The
children come to us from nearly every economic background with various
levels of ability to communicate using American Sign Language (ASL).
Be proud in the knowledge
that you have made a difference. You have made the world a better
place for those less fortunate than yourselves. Again, on behalf
of the children who will benefit from your gift my sincere thanks.
Congratulations, the members of your club are truly living our Lions Motto,
We Serve.
Yours in Lionism,
Diana Halsey
